Exclusive Choral Conductors Professional Development Course

Budapest and Bratislava: 1-10 July 2020

The Choral Conductors Professional Development provides study in Kodaly technique along with hands-on conducting experience, all this under the direction of professors of the Franz Liszt Academy in Budapest. The Academy is renowned worldwide as a centre of excellence for choral training, for choirs and conductors alike.

And the experience is designed to be much deeper, as the group of participants will form a choir. They will rehearse together in Budapest and then perform at an international choir festival in Bratislava, where there will be opportunities to listen to choirs from many countries, mix with them and their conductors, and discover new horizons for your own choirs.

Participants may choose to participate in conducting masterclasses either as conductors or as observers. Music will be sent to participants for individual preparation, so that rehearsals in Budapest can focus on shaping the music, not just learning the notes. There will also be seminars on choral repertoire and the possibilities available to perform in Europe and at international choral festivals.

Open the door to the next level of choral conducting

As a very special extra, Gullivers is offering a very limited number of low cost extensions in Vienna for the 5 nights following the course and festival (10-14 July 2020). During this time you will experience the opening and closing ceremonies, competitions, concerts and workshops which form Europe’s most prestigious festival for young choirs and orchestras – the Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival.  Several hundred young musicians from Australia and New Zealand participate every year, along with up to 2000 from many other countries. Those who take up this special offer will gain insights into the exciting possibilities open to their own choir.

Throughout the tour, including the extension, 4-star hotel accommodation in twin rooms with full breakfast, guided sight-seeing, local transport, entrances and some dinners are all included.

This will be of especially high value to young conductors and teachers, but also to the more experienced who will benefit from refreshing their knowledge and skills. For all it will be a totally inspiring experience. Fully tax-deductable and suitable to include in teacher portfolios, this is an invaluable opportunity not to be missed. As places are capped at 25, it is important to register your interest as early as possible, especially if you would like to apply for the limited low-cost opportunity to extend for 5 days in Vienna.
