OUR TRAVEL TIPS:

  • Security – In recent times the French National Security program, Plan Vigipirate, has seen increased security measures for public venues and shops. Handbags and shopping bags will be checked and visitors must carry with them one form of photo ID at all times. Please be patient and co-operative with security personnel, they are doing a great job and are trying to keep everyone safe. People are also asked to report immediately any unattended bag or object spotted in a public space.

  • 112 call for help – If calling from a mobile phone, 112 is the single European emergency number to use. The 112 emergency number will work from a landline or public payphone. There is also a dedicated number for each service:
    - Medical Emergency dial 15
    - Police dial 17
    - Fire Brigade (or in case of an accident) dial 18

  • Try the language out – the French locals love it when visitors attempt their language. Even if it is a simple "Bonjour" (hello) or a polite “Je voudrais un café et un croissant, s’il vous plait” (I would like a coffee and a croissant pleaseyour efforts will be appreciated.

  • Be comfortable – pack a couple of pairs of comfy shoes when travelling to France. When travelling you should always expect to do a bit of walking, whether it's around the Lourve Museum or wine tasting in the Champagne region. Your feet will thank you later.

  • Final tip – have fun! Fully immerse yourself in the cuisine, wine, cultural and history of the fabulous country. Don't forget to try Lyon's famous, mouth-watering quenelle, Bon Appetit!
